I have been using the Homemaker’s Friend Day Planner for several years and today I have a sneak peek of the 2018 edition for you! Homemaker’s Friend was designed by our site sponsor Sue Hooley, a Christian Mom of 6 children. I’ll let her tell you about the planner in her own words:
Twenty years ago when I was a young homemaker, I read Getting More Done in Less Time by Donna Otto. She recommended using a simple daily planner to keep track of duties, appointments and commitments. “It will be your friend for life,” she promised. I began my search for a planner that would help me organize my days and duties. But I soon realized that my homemaking days did not fit into neat little time slots. It was frustrating to be rocking the baby at 10:00 when the planner said, “Weed flower bed.” So, I started designing my own planner pages so that I could have flexible plan. Today, The Homemaker’s Friend Daily Planner is a professional version of those homemade pages of years gone by. Through eleven moves, from one child to six, from toddlers to adult children, this basic, flexible planner kept me on track while allowing me to change from one stage to the next.
See Inside the Homemaker’s Friend Day Planner
The Homemaker’s Friend Day Planner is compact enough to fit into my purse, but at the same time, it’s large enough to have room for everything I need.
The Yearly Calendar has a place for basic notations. Now with the 52 untitled sections, you have a place to journal or write prayer requests, birthdays, and quotes.
The Monthly Calendar gives an overall view of upcoming events. Having this basic overview of my month helps me to be more realistic with my weekly planning since I can see at a glance what will be happening over the next few weeks.
The Weekly Planning Section Helps me make the most out of my week and out of each individual day. The “Task List” at the top of the weekly spread is a great space to record my most important priorities for the week and track my progress. It also gives me a visual of what needs to be done and then I can plan those duties out throughout the week. There is a space to record my meal planning for each day and if I want to do more detailed menu planning there is also a free, matching menu planning download available from the Homemakers Depot website.
The Tasks List pages are untitled, which gives me the freedom to create monthly, bimonthly, or seasonal lists. The page is divided vertically so this is the area where I keep all my checklists!
The Projects and Events section is another very flexible, untitled area that I can use for planning. I like that the horizontal layout lets me have extra space for recording details of any events I am planning.
Shopping Lists! These lists are perforated for your convenience. I use the shopping lists as a place to jot down items we have run out of so that the next time I am in town, I am efficient and don’t forget anything on my list. There are 54 perforated lists… one for each week of the year!
The Clothing Sizes and Gift Ideas pages are new from last year. I was already recording this information on extra note pages in last year’s planner so I am thrilled that these pages were included this year!
The Information Section is where I jot down phone numbers, addresses, and email address that I will need often.
And last but not least, there is a double-sided paper pocket in the back of the Homemaker’s Friend day planner which is a perfect spot to stash receipts and other important papers I will need to refer to soon.
