Welcome to week #2 of the Christian Homemaking Community’s Summer Book Club! Each week several bloggers are coming together to share our 3 favorite books in various genres. Today we’re talking about books that have helped us with spiritual growth. It was so hard to narrow this category down to just 3 books because there are so many wonderful and encouraging books written for Christians. Here are 3 books that I have impacted me deeply.
This is an “oldie” but a goodie. If you have ever wanted a deep, rich, meaningful prayer life, this book is full of inspiration! It’s only 124 pages long, so it’s a quick read. In it, the author Evelyn Christenson talks about how to get started with prayer if you’re a beginning pray-er or how to deepen your connection with Christ if you have been praying for years. She talks a lot about her prayer partners and telephone prayer chains and shares so many examples of prayers answered in extraordinary ways. Yet what impacted me the most about this book was reading the author’s descriptions of how her children were impacted by watching her prayer life develop over the years. If you would like to learn how to pray more effectively, this book is absolutely life changing! Author: Evelyn Christenson
I’m a fast reader, but this was a book that took me a while to read through. It’s not difficult, there’s just so much great content in it and it took me a while to highlight and make notes. (I am NOT the kind of person to write in my books, but for this book I made an exception!) Every topic a Christian homemaker needs to draw closer to God is in this book: The author starts by describing how to draw close to God and how to study the Bible and then discusses how our faith impacts various areas of our life (marriage, social media, parenting and more). This book delivers exactly what the title promises: It’s a how-to guide for Christian women who are striving for a life well lived! Author: Courtney Joseph
This is another life-changing book that will challenge and convict you! It’s all about why and how to have a daily quiet time with the Lord that will lead us to a deeper love relationship with Him. The author shares her own successes and failures as well as tried and true Quiet Time activities such as Journalling, Bible study, intercession, singing, and prayer. I have read a lot of books about the need for spending time with God, but never have I read one that inspires and equips as well as this one. This is a book that I have read at least five or six times and I try to read it yearly. Author: Nancy Leigh DeMoss
Those are 3 books that have meant a lot to me over the years. In the links below you’ll find books that other bloggers recommend. Do you have favorite Christian books? Tell me in the comments below! I am always adding to my library shelves!

Recreatable by Kevin Scott is an excellent read for the new and long time Christian.
Those sure are some great books to add to your bible stack – thanks!
The book, a Place of Quiet Rest sounds familiar and I think my wife might have bought it online. She talked to me about buying it for our son as a way to help him read. It seems that he likes the book because he keeps talking about it.
All 3 of these are new to me – I look forward to checking them out! Nancy Leigh Demoss is one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing!
My wife says that Place of Quiet Rest is a great read. She has read it a couple times. She thinks I should give it a read but from what I understand the book is more geared toward a female audience. I might give it a chance. I don’t know.

You list some fabulous books that are perfect for both growth and healing. The best books are those that show a love for Christ as well as showing understanding and forgiveness to your fellow neighbor, despite your preconceived notions and judgement. Thanks so much for sharing such wonderful books!
